McCool Hall is also home to the Lyle Hansberger – GolfTEC Learning Center (room 101). The Learning Center features a Full Swing Golf Simulator, GolfTEC g-Swing Motion Analysis Equipment, and a putting green. Additionally, we have our student and alumni "Wall of Fame" honoring the many accomplishments of our students and alumni. Honors and recognitions include The Dr. S. Roland Jones Student of the Year and our alumni who have been recognized as PGA of America Award recipients and PGA Section Award recipients.
The Full Swing Simulator allows students to play 56 different golf course from around the world. Upon completion, it provides the students with statistical information about various parts of their game. The simulator also incorporates an extensive practice area in which students can work on their game between classes. Students have conducted a number of competitions throughout the semester in the simulator. Some of the competitions include golf tournaments, skins games, online tournaments, closest to the hole contests and long drive contests.
The GolfTEC g-Swing System Motion Analysis Equipment is a state of the art system that allows students to compare their golf swing with over 225 tour professionals. Students are outfitted with motion sensors that register movement during the golf swing. This data is collected and compared against the average of 150 tour professionals. Additional features of the system include a video monitor directly in front of the student for easy viewing and auditory feedback for specific motions during the golf swing. Combined with the Full Swing Simulator, students are able to see how body positions can change ball flight.
This facility is a helpful tool for students as it not only helps better the student's playing ability, but it can help the student become a better teacher of the golf swing. Students have access to this room any time McCool Hall is open.
